I've booked an appointment. Now what?
Woooho, you have made an amazing first step in your health journey! You should have already received an email with your appointment details in it. In this email there will be a "New Patient Form" attached which you can fill out prior to your appointment (I also have forms on me on the day of your appointment). On the day of your appointment you will be sent a text confirming your exact appointment time.
On the day of your appointment please wear comfortable clothing. If you have a leg issue shorts are recommended. And please be aware that for back, shoulder and neck issues you will likely be asked to remove some top layers, it is fine to wear a singlet.
Of course if you have any other questions send them through before your appointment. I will do the rest for you, I can't wait to meet you!
How do I pay for my appointment?
Payment is required on the day of your appointment, please discuss with me prior to your appointment if this is an issue. I can process your payment at the end of your appointment through card payment or you can bank transfer me. I only accept cash if it is the exact amount of your appointment, I do not carry any change on me.
Can I use my private health fund?
If your private health fund covers physiotherapy, then yes you will be able to claim for your physiotherapy appointment - make sure you have your private health card on you. I am unable to tell you the specific amount that your health fund will cover of the full appointment price.
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
Physiotherapists are first contact practitioners, meaning you do not need a referral from your GP or specialist to see me.
How many appointments will I need?
This varies for each person, so until I have assessed you I will not be able to give you a specific time frame. At the end of your first appointment I will give you an estimate for how many appointments I believe you will need and I will be honest and open with you through-out our time together if anything changes.
My GP has put me on a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan. Can I see one of your physiotherapists for this?
You can! Tell your GP you would like to see me (Beth Thomas at BST Physiotherapy) for your EPC visits (you can get up to 5 visits per year). Once I receive the paperwork for your EPC Plan I will give you a call to make a booking time if I haven't already heard from you. Your GP will likely fax me the paperwork directly.
Please note that I do not bulk bill EPC Plans. You will be required to pay the full appointment price upfront and you will receive the EPC rebate back in your account the following day. You can call to find out what this gap payment would be before your appointment.
Is there a cancellation fee if I miss my appointment?
If you want to cancel your appointment please do it the day before the appointment. If you cancel the day of your appointment there is a cancellation fee of 50% of the full appointment fee (which is not health fund rebate-able).
